In response to HDTV video input (line input) signals, the HD-1656/1657 inserter combines the superimposed inputs of two systems using external keys and self-keys, and it outputs the combined signals. Contained in the output signals are the line output signals are the line output signals as well as a preview signal for checking what has been superimposed. The superimposed inputs can be expanded (to a maximum of 8 systems: HD-1656/ 4 systems: HD-1657) using module cards, and the analyzer can process the input signals of each system independently in various ways including key extraction and feed in/feed out. In addition to supperimposing images, line input/ output bypassing for ancillary data and MPEG2 re-encoded data, and audio signals mixing can be performed. A dedicated remote operation console connected using an RS-242 interface is used for the setting and operations.

  • The HDTV full format is supported by the line video input and output signals.
  • Both the HDTV full format and D1(601) are supported by the superimposed input signals.
  • The line input and superimposed input signals are synchronized with the reference input by the frame synchronizer, and then combined as an output. BB and HD Tri-Level signals are supported as the reference input.
